The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs team took part in the fourth stage of the second all-Ukrainian round of the “Strongmen of Ukraine” adaptive sports competition among veterans.
The event supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the NGO “Strongmen Federation of Ukraine, head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration Andrii Raikovych, deputy mayor of Kropyvnytskyi Mykhailo Bezhan and the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs was held at the communal institution “Regional Specialized School for Youth and Children of the Olympic Reserve 2” in Kropyvnytskyi.
The competition contributes to strengthening patriotic spirit in the society by involving veterans, military personnel, and representatives of law enforcement bodies who have received injuries and traumas (visible and invisible) as a result of participating in hostilities or carrying out official tasks.
The vision of sports rehabilitation of the military is to create the best conditions for the rehabilitation and resocialization of war veterans by means of sports tools and equipment using the facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs sports infrastructure for systematic training.
The event was opened by head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, Andrii Raikovych: “Today the Kirovohrad region welcomes brave and strong heroes. By their example, they inspire the youth and all Ukrainians for life and Victory.”
The athletes competed in 7 types of tests: bench press for times; rowing on a simulator; rowing on the simulator “Concept 2”; team competitions; aerobike; speed aerobike; kettlebell jerk.
In a tense struggle, instructors and higher education seekers of the DonSUIA showed the following results:
1st place in rowing among mixed teams was taken by head of the SPh and PT department Ihor Shostak, Vlad Medviediev, Yana Diachenko, Nataliia Pushka;
3rd place in rowing among boys was taken by Oleksandr Riabovol, Vladyslav Lavrientiev, Oleksandr Stasenko, Nikita Karnaukhov.
In the personal ranking:
1st place in kettlebell jerk was taken by Kateryna Ivanova, in barbell press-by Daria Hanochenko, in aerobike – by Victoriia Tyshlek;
2nd place in kettlebell jerk was taken by Daria Hanochenko, Vladyslav Medviediev; in barbell press-by Nikita Karpov, in aerbike – by Alina Marchenko;
3rd place in barbell press was taken by Maksym Bashchynskyi, in aerobike – by Anna Smirnova, associate professor of the department of SPh and PT, in aerobike among veterans – by Vasyl Drozhzhyn.
Congratulating the participants and winners, vice-rector of the DonSUIA Ruslan Vradii emphasized that rehabilitation through physical culture and sports is a very powerful support for the military. He invited everyone interested to join the classes at special locations of the University. With the help of qualified specialists, Ukrainian defenders will be able to improve their physical and psychological condition.
