The general library of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs hosted a regular meeting of the Bookworms Club, entitled «Chronicle of the Revolution: Maidan through the Eyes of a Writer». The topic of the meeting was Andrii Kurkov’s book «Maidan Diary» – a personal chronicle of the events of the Revolution of Dignity.

Librarians Antonina Harkusha and Tetiana Zavalei introduced the participants to the author’s life, his creative achievements and presented thematic literature from the library’s collection.

The speakers of the event paid special attention to the analysis of the writer’s diary entries, where his personal observations of the barricades, night shifts and the atmosphere of unity became the foundation for truthful coverage of history. The documentary footage, viewed within the framework of the meeting, naturally complemented the author’s narration, allowing young people to more deeply experience the scale of the Revolution of Dignity and realize historical significance of the events on Maidan.
At the end of the meeting, those present completed the exercise «The Way to Free and Independent Ukraine», having shaped the strategy for personal contribution to the development of a democratic society and having identified specific steps to achieve the ideals of the «state of their dreams».
