How does international police cooperation work and why the knowledge of a foreign language is an important tool for a law enforcement officer? Cadets of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs received answers to these questions during a binary session in a foreign language on the topic: «INTERPOL: basic grounds of cooperation».
The invited speaker was senior inspector for special assignments of the international police cooperation sector of the Main Office of the National Police in the Kirovohrad region, INTERPOL-Ukraine representative in the region, police lieutenant colonel Olena Reshetova. She shared with the students her practical experience of professional activity, in particular, she spoke about 18 years of service in the police and 10 years of work in interaction through Interpol channels.
The speaker also emphasized the importance of mastering a foreign language for effective professional communication in the field of international police cooperation.
During the session, future law enforcement officers learned about the history of the organization, its structure, statutory principles, official languages, mission, functions and key tasks. The participants paid special attention to working with information databases and types of notifications used to exchange critical information between law enforcement agencies of different countries.
The practical part of the session included an interactive survey based on the presentation materials and an analysis of professional situations, which allowed the cadets to better understand the specifics of cooperation with Interpol and the importance of a foreign language in the professional activities of a law enforcement officer.
