A joint meeting of scientific research groups of the departments of state and legal disciplines, administrative law and process as well as economics and public administration of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Social Management was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs. The event brought together administration of the institute, its departments, as well as scientific research groups and became the platform for identifying key areas of scientific work in the 2025–2026 academic year.
The institute Director, Doctor of Law, Professor Tetiana Koliesnik emphasized the importance of scientific research groups for the formation of students’ scientific potential: “Research groups allow students not only to deepen their knowledge, but also to form critical thinking and practical skills necessary to solve current challenges.
“The participants of the meeting discussed organization of work of scientific research groups “Lawyer”, “Leaders of Change” , “Youth and Law”, and also identified the main thematic areas of scientific research, including: criminal process and law, forensics; peculiarities of law enforcement bodies’ activities in wartime; theory of state and law, international law; international criminal law; ensuring the rights and freedoms of individuals and legal entities by executive authorities and local self-government bodies; state and local government administration, public finance, economic security of critical infrastructure; information security, creation and use of information technologies; regional dimension of economic security: local finance, investment climate, public procurement; ethical standards, culture of integrity and reputational risks management.
Deputy Director of the Institute for Educational and Research Activities, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Olha Kovaliova emphasized the importance of interdisciplinarity, noting that modern challenges, particularly in wartime conditions, require a comprehensive approach to research. She admitted that research groups combine the efforts of lawyers, economists, and managers to find innovative solutions to protect citizens’ rights and ensure stability.
The event was held in the format of a lively discussion: students were active in asking questions and were familiarized with scientific achievements of the University lecturers and young researchers. Such interaction not only promotes the exchange of ideas, but also opens up new prospects for future scholars in the fields of law, economics, and management.
