Modern challenges in the field of copyright and academic integrity formed the basis of the workshop “Intellectual Property and Plagiarism: A Legal Labyrinth”, which took place in the general library of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The speaker of the event, librarian of the general library Tetiana Zavalei, introduced the participants to the basics of intellectual property, key aspects of copyright and its importance in educational and scientific activities. She specifically focused on the problem of plagiarism, talking about modern online tools for checking texts for its uniqueness and the importance of adhering to ethical norms in teaching and research.

The discussion was joined by Serhii Pekarskyi, head of the University’s academic integrity promotion group and associate professor of the Department of Operational Investigation and Information Security of the DonSUIA. He spoke about the basic principles of academic integrity, typical violations and their consequences, and also held a thematic quiz “Integrity and Plagiarism” for the participants, where those present competed in their knowledge of legal subtleties in a game format.

The logical conclusion of the meeting was a workshop with the use of artificial intelligence, during which the higher education seekers, using practical tasks, got convinced that modern technologies are effective learning aids, provided they are used with responsibility and respect for other people’s intellectual work.
