As part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs project “Friendly Support”, specialists from the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs systematically conduct rehabilitation classes for military personnel.
One of the key areas of the project is training in the gym. It contributes to the restoration of health, the development of strength qualities, the musculo-skeletal system, and improves the functioning of the cardio-vascular and respiratory systems. In addition, such meetings help to relieve psychological stress and adapt socially.
A regular strength training class was conducted by Volodymyr Halimskyi, a certified instructor for veterans’ physical rehabilitation, an associate professor of the department of special physical and pre-medical training of the DonSUIA.
Special attention was paid to warm-up and preparatory exercises, which is due to the importance of avoiding sports injuries and gradual entering the training process. After the warm-up and general exercises, the work was focused on those muscle groups that require an individual approach for everyone.
A war veteran Henadii Zyrianov noted that such trainings significantly improve health, reduce stress level, and promote physical recovery. Besides, they provide an opportunity to communicate, share experiences, and find a new meaning of life after service.
The DonSUIA plans to further scale this project, attracting more participants and developing new types of physical activity for the defenders of Ukraine.
