A «Barrier-Free Driving School» of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is a space of new opportunities for Ukrainian veterans who, after the war, choose the path of an active and independent life. One of those who successfully completed the training and took a confident step towards restoring their own mobility is Oleh Biriuk, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The serviceman voluntarily became Ukraine’s defender back in 2014, starting his service in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. He was one of the fighters of the first recruitment of the volunteer formation «Dnipro-1» and without hesitation, he stood at the forefront in the most difficult time for the state.
During his military activities near Ilovaisk, Oleh was seriously wounded. After treatment and prosthetics, he set a new goal for himself – returning to active life.
To achieve it, the veteran took a practical driving training course at the «Barrier-Free Driving School» of the DonSUIA, successfully passed his exam and received a category «B» driver’s license.
The project «Barrier-Free Driving Schools» is being implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as part of the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
