The Road Safety Week has started in Ukraine. Its purpose is to draw the society’s attention to the global problem of preventing injuries as a result of traffic accidents.
The situation with road safety in Ukraine, new legislative initiatives, the state of roads and street infrastructure, educational programs for young road users and other relevant issues were discussed by the participants of the thematic round table.
The organizers of the event were the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, a state enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Kyiv interregional branch), the international charity fund “Help the victims of road accidents”.
Rector of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, police colonel Serhii Vitvitskyi, addressed the participants:
“Holding nationwide events like Road Safety Week, even in martial law conditions, is essential to bring the society together. With joint efforts of public administration bodies, educational and scientific institutions, as well as the public itself, we are able to model a new system of safe mobility and implement it”.
He also emphasized that the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is ready to become an effective scientific and educational platform for the development of high-quality draft laws and regulations in the field of transport and public safety.
