Practical experience, their first professional challenges and working alongside experienced investigators – this is how the practical training began for second-year cadets at the E. O. Didorenko Educational and Scientific Institute for the Training of Specialists for Criminal Police Units at DonSUIA. The law enforcement officers are undertaking this placement in the investigative departments and regional units of the National Police of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Chernihiv regions.

As part of their practical training, police officers work alongside experienced investigators, familiarising themselves with the organisation of pre-trial investigation units, the specifics of documenting criminal offences, the preparation of procedural documents, and the procedure for conducting initial investigative (search) measures.
Under the guidance of their mentors, the cadets are involved in conducting crime scene inspections, working with materials from criminal proceedings, analysing the evidence base, and participating in interrogations and other procedural measures falling within the remit of pre-trial investigation bodies.

The skills acquired through practical experience will form the foundation of the law enforcement officers’ professional expertise and ensure the successful fulfilment of their duties in the future.
