A two-day workshop “Strengthening the Capacity of Providers of Rehabilitation Services for Security Sector Veterans” was held in the city of Chernivtsi. Representatives of higher education institutions with specific learning conditions from the Kirovohrad, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Odessa and Kyiv regions, as well as servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Marine Corps participated in the event.
The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs was represented by head of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy, Anhela Helbak, leading psychologist of the Department of Psychological Support of the Personnel Department, Oleksandra Kharchenko, and head of the Department of Extreme and Crisis Psychology (on a voluntary basis), crisis psychologist Andrii Fomenko. They presented the program “Features of the Senses of Non-Traumatic Changes of a War Veteran: and spoke about the University’s activities in developing a system of psychological and social rehabilitation of security sector veterans, which includes training specialists, developing professional training programs, implementing research results, and creating partnership platforms for exchanging experience.
Special attention was paid to the author’s practices of assistance in crisis situations, which were presented by psychologists of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kirovohrad region, the psychological support department of the combat special operation “Aeneas” of the Separate Assault Brigade “Liut” and the Municipal Institution “Center-Veteran”.
The participants emphasized the importance of uniting efforts of government bodies, educational institutions, and public organizations to improve the quality of support for veterans, their successful integration into the community, and their return to peaceful life.
