A meeting with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The event was attended by the University administration – Rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, First Vice-Rector Olena Volobuieva, Vice-Rector Ruslan Vradii, heads of educational and scientific institutes and faculties, as well as representatives of the Main Office of the National Police in the Kirovohrad region – its Head Andrii Dubrova and his deputy Artem Soltan.
In his welcoming speech, the DonSUIA Rector thanked the ICRC for cooperation, emphasizing the importance of exchanging experience and support in this difficult for the country time. He particularly noted their assistance in creating the Center for International Humanitarian Law and the Psychological Relief Room, which contributes to the psychological stability of law enforcement officers.
The main purpose of the visit was to conduct a training for higher education seekers on the search and identification of persons missing in special circumstances. Investigators and operational officers of the Kirovohrad region police also joined its work.
The training program, organized by the ICRC, covered key issues of the international humanitarian law, the Committee’s activities in Ukraine, the standards for the use of force and firearms, support for families of missing persons, as well as forensic aspects and the law of occupation.
Upon completing the training, the participants received certificates certifying their preparation to work with extremely important tasks in the field of the international humanitarian law and law enforcement.
The event was another step towards strengthening partnership between the DonSUIA, the National Police of Ukraine, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, aimed at implementing international standards in the activities of Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
