From June, 5 to June,7, 2026, the VII All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation «OdesaBiblioSummit-2026» was held in the city of Odesa, organized by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and the Odesa National Scientific Library with the support of the Ukrainian Library Association.
The conference participants – scientists, library specialists and cultural managers – discussed the role of reading in the development of critical thinking, preserving national identity and supporting mental health of the society in times of war.
At the event, the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs was represented by head of the general library, Yulia Bahlai. As part of the professional discussion, she presented a report entitled «The library of a higher education institution as a multifunctional space for promoting reading and popularizing Ukrainian books: the experience of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs».
In her report, the experience of the DonSUIA library was presented, which after another relocation was able to restore its collection and today functions as a modern educational and communication space. Special attention was paid to the transformation of the library from a traditional book depository to a platform that contributes to the development of information culture, professional thinking and civic consciousness of future law enforcement officers.
