A well-aimed shot, a focused gaze and tense silence before the team. It was in this atmosphere that the applied and practical shooting championships were held at the shooting range of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The competition brought together the University cadets, students of the Mariupol Center for Initial Professional Training «Police Academy», students of the «Community Police Officers» specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education, and the University staffers.
Servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine and fighters of the special operations battalion «Aeneas» of the Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine «Liut» came to support the tournament participants.
The championship program included complex exercises that required of athletes not only technical skills, but also quick reactions and the ability to work with weapons in difficult conditions. The participants competed in both aiming accuracy and tactical maneuvers, which are critical for police officers. The shooters used 9mm Makarov and Fort-17 pistols.
The winning teams were awarded cups, diplomas and medals, and the shooters who demonstrated the best individual results were awarded certificates, medals and souvenirs.
«Today’s results are not just numbers in the report, but the result of daily training, practicing grip, stance, and empty hand work, which are conducted at the Fire Training Department», the competition organizers noted.
