Within the framework of implementing the project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine “Friendly Support”, regular swimming classes for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian veterans have been launched at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The classes are conducted by Ihor Shostak, head of the department of Special Physical and Pre-Medical Training of the faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the DonSUIA.
The training is aimed at regaining control over the body, developing strength, endurance and coordination. Swimming allows you to evenly load the muscles without harming the joints, which is especially important for wounded soldiers. At the same time, water helps reduce anxiety and improve the emotional state.
“We start with something simple – exercises for legs, then arms, then- comprehensively. This makes it possible to gradually activate the muscles that are most in need of recovery “ noted Ihor Shostak.
The classes are held in a friendly atmosphere of mutual support, where friends are nearby, and the teacher is a mentor and motivator. The DonSUIA initiative is an example of how education, sports, and science work together for the main thing – the health and decent life of Ukrainian defenders.
