The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs held a meeting of higher education seekers with deputy head of enlightenment activity unit of the department of enlightenment activity and educational programs of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention, an expert of Integrity Office, Victoria Skorobogata.
On behalf of the University rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, the guests were welcomed by vice-rector Olena Volobuieva: “In the fight against corruption, not only the legislative toolkit is important, but also the culture of integrity, which starts to be cultivated at the university. In this context, the work of Integrity Office is a guide and an example of an effective struggle for transparency and formation of zero tolerance for corruption.”
Those present discussed: the causes and origin of corruption in Ukraine; the work of anti-corruption bodies; the level of perceiving corruption by the population and the ways in which young people can influence on minimization of corruption risks in the activities of educational institutions. The dialogue was supplemented with examples of Ukraine’s achievements in the field of anti-corruption activities in recent years. Special attention was paid to the experience of introducing transparency and accountability, which significantly improve the quality of management in state institutions.
Students and cadets also took the NACP survey aimed at analyzing the level of awareness of young people about corruption risks.
Kateryna Udod, the commissioner for anti-corruption activities of the DonSUIA, joined the event. She emphasized the importance of implementing anti-corruption principles in everyday life of the educational community and focused on the work to prevent corruption risks in higher education institutions with specific learning conditions.
Such meetings contribute to the formation of legal awareness of young people and are an important component of creating a transparent educational space.
