Training of seconded staffers of the National Police of Ukraine in the specialization “Community Police Officer” has started in the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The project is implemented with the support of the ICITAP international program and the department of preventive activities of the National Police of Ukraine.
For two and a half months 159 human rights defenders from 17 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv will improve their professional skills and gain experience under the guidance of experienced teachers and instructors.
On the start of training the participants were greeted by: Andrii Raikovych, head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration; first deputy head of the Kirovohrad Regional Council Yurii Semeniuk; head of the department of preventive activities of the National Police of Ukraine Maksym Akhramieiev; head of the main department of the National Police in the Kirovohrad region Roman Koziakov; head of the unit for interaction with communities of the department of preventive activities of the National Police of Ukraine, Maiia Breslavska.
The event was opened by Serhii Vitvitskyi, rector of the DonSUIA. He noted that the University personnel will share all their knowledge and make the learning process as comfortable as possible.
Head of the Department, Maksym Akhramieiev, outlined the main tasks for acquiring special skills and studying the specifics of community police officers’ activities during the entire training course. “Colleagues, please treat the whole process responsibly. After the end of this course I will be glad to welcome each of you in our friendly police family.”
The “Community Police Officer” project is aimed at improving cooperation between the police and territorial communities. This was emphasized by head of the Kirovohrad RMA, Andrii Raikovich: “Being a community officer means being closer to people’s problems, protecting their interests and lives. Only by uniting efforts and abilities will we ensure order in the country.”
The DonSUIA wishes the policemen efficient training and its successful completion.
