On the occasion of the Court Staffer’s Day, the DonSUIA held the “Art of Court Speech” competition. Six teams of 2nd year cadets of the DonSUIA took part in the event.
Higher education seekers tried to act as prosecution and defense parties, demonstrated their oratorical skills.
According to the detailed educational plot, cadets took turns speaking during the trial for several hours. The participants reproduced 6 simulated sessions of legal proceedings. The contestants were assessed by practicing lawyers Oleksandr Kvashuk, Nataliia Siur and Vitalii Yurakh according to the following criteria: reasoning, consistency structure, logic, emotionality of speech.
Nazar Shamkyi, a 2nd-year cadet of Faculty No. 1 of the DonSUIA, who acted as a prosecutor, commented on the event: “Being a prosecutor is very difficult and responsible, because you have to know the legislation perfectly. I prepared for the proceedings with the codes and the unified state register of judicial investigations in my hand,” said Nazar Shamkyi.
Yuliia Bereza, a 2nd-year cadet of Faculty No. 1 of the KRESI the DonSUIA, who acted a defender, told about her experience: “I really wanted to play the role of a lawyer. I had been working hard for this day,: I spoke in front of the mirror, watched video recommendations on the oratory art and worked on the legislation.”
“Such an event is useful for legal cadets, because they worked on a simulated case independently, analyzed legislation and evidence,” emphasized lawyer Oleksandr Kvashuk.
Diplomas for taking the 1st place in the nomination “Art of court speech” were awarded to:
– cadet of the 204th training platoon of faculty No. 2 of the DonSUIA Nataliia Hryhoriieva;
– Yuliia Kuzmich, cadet of the 203rd training platoon of faculty No. 1 of the KRESI the DonSUIA;
– cadet of the 202nd training platoon of faculty No. 1 of the KRESI the DonSUIA Yaroslav Verhunenko.
Diplomas for taking the 2nd place in the “Art of court speech” nomination were awarded to:
– cadet of the 204th training platoon of faculty No. 2 of the DonSUIA Vitalii Nemisha;
– cadet of the 209th training platoon of faculty No. 3 of the DonSUIA Ruslana Boika;
– cadet of the 201st training platoon of faculty No. 1 of the KRESI the DonSUIA Vladyslav Hlushchenko.
Diplomas for taking the 3rd place in the nomination “Art of court speech” were awarded to:
– Anastasiia Timchak, cadet of the 204th training platoon of faculty No. 1 of the KNNI the DonSUIA;
– cadet of the 203rd training platoon of faculty No. 1 of the DonSUIA Volodymyr Klymenko.
The “Art of Court Speech” competition was organized and conducted by the researchers of General Legal Disciplines department of faculty No. 3 of the DonSUIA and Criminal Procedure and Forensics department of faculty No. 1 of the DonSUIA.
