The Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs became a platform for holding a working meeting on the development of veteran sports.
The event brought together representatives of state authorities, local governments, law enforcement agencies, veteran organizations working in the field of physical rehabilitation and social adaptation of veterans, as well as war veterans themselves.
Ruslan Vradii, the DonSUIA Vice-Rector and Kateryna Koltunova, Deputy Head of the Regional Military Administration, welcomed the participants emphasizing the importance of systemic support for veterans and the development of available opportunities for their physical recovery and active participation in sports life.

Considering this, head of the Department of Special Physical Training of the DonSUIA, Ihor Shostak, presented the opportunities of the University’s sports infrastructure and outlined key areas of support for defenders through physical culture and sports. The speaker introduced the audience to proposals for holding competitions in 2026, in particular the regional games «Steppe Power» with the participation of war veterans and their families. Also equipment options for veteran athletes of the Kirovohrad region were presented.
The meeting participants emphasized the importance of creating accessible and safe sports infrastructure, expanding opportunities for regular training, and involving veterans in competitions of various levels, from regional to international. They also discussed interagency cooperation, pooling resources, and developing communication between stakeholders, shared experience in implementing sports initiatives, and outlined prospects for further joint work.
