The problems of the development and success of Ukrainian women scientists in the realities of war, overcoming crisis situations and gender stereotypes, popularization of scientific activity among young people, the role of women in the development of STEM education were discussed by the participants of the All-Ukrainian information and educational forum “STEM and FEM”.
At the beginning of the meeting, the vice-rector of the DonSUIA, Olena Volobuieva, on behalf of the rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, thanked the scientists for their significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian society. She noted that female representatives of the University, together with higher education seekers, are actively mastering the educational components of cyber security, cyber hygiene and countering cybercrimes within the frame of general and professional disciplines. The vector of knowledge and skills is supplemented by a cycle of thematic round tables and seminars, individual studies and practical classes based on research societies, in particular, in the digital laboratory “Digital Lab”, where the Cyber School and Cyber Hunter function.
Congratulatory speeches were made by: Deputy director for Scientific Work of the National Center “Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” Oleksandr Stryzhak, head of the STEM Education Department of the State Scientific Institution “Institute for Modernization of the Content of Education” Oksana Lozova, deputy director of the Institute for Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for scientific and experimental work Olga Pinchuk, vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy Maryna Vasylieva, vice-rector for scientific work of the Central Ukrainian State University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko Liliia Klochek, leader of the movement in ZeZhinka in the Kirovohrad region, head of the Committee on economic development, industry, entrepreneurship, investments and regulatory policy Anna Zarichna.
More than 360 people from different regions of Ukraine, representing more than 260 educational and scientific institutions, registered to participate in the forum. They were joined by women scientists who are currently abroad (Austria and the Republic of Poland).
The participants presented their own experience in discussing the problematic issues of the role of women in STEM:
– aspects of career growth in today’s realities,
– motivating young people to succeed in the STEM aspect,
– formation of digital soft skills in the youth of a new generation on the basis of STEM education,
– the role of a female leader in the development of Ukrainian society: the context of science-education-business.
The all-Ukrainian informational and educational forum was distinguished by the richness of reports, the energy and liveliness of the discussion platform, and the determination of the future directions of the work of leading scientists in accordance with today’s requirements.
