The participants of the Youth Scientific and Practical Conference “Road Safety” during the 7th Global Road Safety Week discussed the issue of reconsidering mobility in the populated localities of Ukraine and prioritizing safety among other components of road traffic.
The event was held at KRESI of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs and gathered nearly one hundred scientists and practitioners. Among the participants were the representatives of government institutions, agencies, and departments, lawyers, scientists, students, and cadets. The academic staff, students, and cadets of the DonSUIA joined the conference online from other locations.
On behalf of the rector of the DonSUIA Serhii Vitvitskyi, the first vice-rector Yehor Nazymko welcomed the participants: “Every year the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs is holding scientific and practical conferences devoted to road safety issues. And despite a full-scale war, we continue to organize scientific debates to discuss the construction of safe traffic conditions in the post-war reconstruction of the transport infrastructure of Ukraine. The organizing committee of the conference consciously chose the youth format of the scientific event, so that young scientists and students of higher education, as generators of innovative ideas, with the assistance and effective support of experienced specialists, could share the results of their scientific research and discuss directions for further combating road accidents.”
Greetings were delivered by: Director of the Separate Subdivision “Kyiv Interregional Branch” of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, President of the International Charitable Fund for Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents Yurii Chornyi, Head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mykola Rudyk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety Yevhen Zborovskyi, and Oleh Solovei Deputy Head of the Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit
The DonSUIA is grateful to the event`s participants for their interesting and active discussions. The results of joint work will contribute to the reduction of road traffic injuries, the effective search for methods and ways to eliminate the causes of road accidents, and successful implementation of international standards in the field of transport safety in Ukraine.
