A training course “Peculiarities of Communication with War Veterans and Their Family Members. Self-recovery of specialists” was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs for specialists supporting war veterans and demobilized persons.
The event became part of the project “Politics of Heroes: The Power of Community”, which the DonSUIA is implementing in cooperation with the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration.
The event was addressed by Anna Kolieva, coordinator of the Center for Medical and Psychological Rehabilitation of the Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans. She emphasized the key role of correct communication with veterans, understanding their combat experience and psychological characteristics. She also shared practical tools that help effectively build trust and provide quality support.
After the theoretical part, the participants visited the psychological relief room in the DonSUIA. Here, Oleksandra Kharchenko, a psychologist from the Psychological Support Unit of the University’s Human Resources Department, conducted a practical self-recovery program. Those present mastered relaxation techniques, emotional stabilization, and methods for preventing professional burnout – skills that are vital for those working in the field of veteran assistance.
