Courses of specialization (retraining) of police units “Educational Security Service” are ongoing for 184 law enforcement officers at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs from 6 regions of Ukraine: Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk.
The project is implemented at the initiative of the state leadership and with the participation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the National Police. Its purpose is to protect children in schools in conditions of full-scale war and to create a safe environment. The officers of the educational security service will be entrusted with: law enforcement, mentoring and educational functions.
Training consists of two parts: normative and variable. Within 24 days, active police officers, who already have relevant experience, master modern mechanisms for protecting children’s rights, study international standards and principles of treatment of minors, and also consider in detail the concept of a safe educational environment.
The classes involved: scientific and pedagogical workers of the faculties of training specialists for units of the National Police and training specialists in law and law enforcement activities of the DonSUIA, practical workers of the Patrol Police Regiment in the city of Kryvyi Rih Patrol Police of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Kryvyi Rih district police department of the Main department of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region, representatives of the Red Cross Ukraine.
Police officers master mediation skills to prevent conflicts. They should be an example for children.
After training, students will be sent for practical internship, and later – together with the lecturers will form a security environment in secondary education institutions of Ukraine.
