The All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference «Current issues of the activities of the National Police as a subject of combating organized crime» was held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, which was organized jointly with the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine and the Center for Security Studies SENSS.
The event brought together scientists, representatives of law enforcement agencies, state authorities and expert community to discuss modern challenges in the field of combating organized crime under martial law.
Those present were addressed by First Vice-Rector of the DonSUIA Olena Volobuieva, who emphasized special role of the National Police of Ukraine as a key entity in ensuring public security and combating modern forms of organized crime under martial law. She also emphasized the importance of combining scientific potential and practical experience for an effective response to new criminal threats.
Representatives of state bodies, law enforcement agencies and public institutions addressed the participants with welcome speeches, among them: Deputy Head of the Unit of Science and Innovation of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Zakharchenko; Head of the Main Office of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia Region Artem Kysko, Head of the 3rd Unit (Strategic Analysis) of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Kalynovskyi, Head of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Kirovohrad Region Dmytro Yandovych; Head of the Chief Council of the Public Organization «Center for Security Research «SENSS» Vadym Chernysh.

During the plenary session, leading Ukrainian scientists and practitioners presented their reports, including representatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations, the Cyber Police Department, the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, as well as scientific and pedagogical staffers of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, the National University «Odesa Law Academy», the National Academy of Internal Affairs, the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi National Academy of the State Border Service of Ukraine, the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, the Odessa State University of Internal Affairs and the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.
The themes of the speeches covered a wide range of issues: criminal and legal counteraction to the leaders of the criminal world and modern trends in organized property crime; assessment of the threats of organized crime according to the SOCTA system and anticipating its development in Ukraine; draft laws «On Law Enforcement Agencies», «On Criminal Intelligence» and prospects for the transformation of operational and investigative activities in accordance with EU standards remote recruitment for subversive activities of russian intelligence agencies against Ukraine; the use of OSINT technologies and predictive analytics in combating organized crime; peculiarities of organizing pre-trial investigations and combating cybercrime in martial law, etc.
The conference became an important scientific and practical platform for exchanging experience, discussing current problems and developing proposals for improving legal and organizational mechanisms for combating organized crime.
