The Independence Day of Ukraine at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs (DonSUIA) began with a general formation of the staff and cadets on the University parade ground.
The event opened with the performance of the State Anthem of Ukraine and welcome remarks from the DonSUIA Rector Serhii Vitvitskyi, who noted:
«Ukraine’s independence is our greatest value—the one we continue to defend and strengthen today. Despite the full-scale war and the University’s forced relocation, we did not stop; we continued to teach, work, and fulfill our duty to Ukraine. It is precisely our unity, resilience, and steadfastness that help us move forward and bring Victory closer».

Those present honored the memory of Ukraine’s defenders—men and women who gave their lives for the freedom, independence, and territorial integrity of our state—with a moment of silence. Flowers were laid at the Heroes’ Monument.
A particularly symbolic moment was a patriotic event “35 Steps of Independence,” during which the participants recalled key milestones in the formation of Ukrainian statehood.

The ceremonial formation concluded with the presentation of Certificates of Honor from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Letters of Appreciation from the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
