Sumo competitions were held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs as part of the II Spartakiad of the faculties “Honoring Heroes — Competing for Victory!”
6 teams in 7 weight categories competed for the title of the strongest.
The main judges of the competition were representatives of the Donetsk region sumo federation – an international-class master of sports, world and European youth champion Elizaveta Morenko and multiple European championship winner, an international category judge Olha Mytnyk. They noted that the skills of controlling an opponent, quick reaction, and decisive actions acquired during sambo training and competitions form in cadets the necessary physical and psychological qualities for work as police officers.
In the overall team standing, the victory was won by the cadets of the faculty of training specialists for criminal police units. The second place went to their first-year colleagues, and the third place went to the faculty of training specialists for pre-trial investigation units.
