Associate professor of the department of operational and investigative activities and information security of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs Olha Haborets and lecturer of the department of criminal process and forensics Svitlana Tatarenko completed a five-day internship in the format of the educational forum “OSINT-Investigation and Documentation of War Crimes” at the National Academy of Internal Affairs.
The event was held at the initiative of the administration of the criminal analysis department of the National Police of Ukraine. It brought together 60 participants – heads of criminal analysis sectors of the territorial units and lecturers of analytical disciplines of higher education institutions under the Ministry of Internal Affairs administration.
The speakers were representatives of departments and units of the Criminal Analysis Department, the Criminal Analysis Department of the Main Office of the National Police in Kyiv, the central office of the National Police, the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine, and scientific and pedagogical workers.
The training contributed to increasing the effectiveness of analytical support for the processes of revealing and investigating criminal offenses in the face of new security threats, which is especially important in the context of high-quality training of future law enforcement officers.
The participants deepened their knowledge of the use of modern analytical tools, improved their skills in video analytics, OSINT research, and working with registers and databases. Special attention was paid to issues of cyber hygiene, international cooperation, and the functional role of an analyst in the process of making management decisions.
